Phil Morelli
Musician • Keyboardist • Composer
Philıp Morelli has been making noise on keyboards since he was six years old. He began his musical journey with a decade 10 years of classical piano training study under Carlo Della Nina of the Dorcherini (Puccini) Conservatory of Music. In his early teens, he studied jazz at the Bloom Conservatory of Music. His Mom purchased a Wurlizter keyboard from family friend of the band Chicago and thus began his entry into a new musical realm, Philip eventually traded sheet music for rock, blues, and jazz fusion and never looked back.
Inspired by keyboard legends Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, T Lavitz, Oscar Peterson, and Jon Lord, Philip developed a sound that blends classical chops with the power, attitude, and improvisation of rock and blues. A veteran of the Chicago and alongside his brother Lou on guitar and vocalist Tommy, Phil played with Blind Ambition, Myth, Farcry, and Second Opinion. At 19, he stepped away from music to raise his four children, but the music never really always remained a driving force. left him. He returned to performing in 2003, eventually serving as music director and keyboardist at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship and later as a keyboardist and organist with Chesapeake Church.
Then, in 2022, the story came full circle. Phil reunited with Lou, Tommy, and Mike Almaguer to resurrect the Sativa Brothers – a project built around the songs written during the height of modern rock, but never had the chance for release.
Those songs are finally getting their shot along with some new music as well.
Old songs. Old friends. New fire.
