About Us
Sativa Brothers is a rock band forged in the fire of the 1970s and early ’80s Chicago rock scene delivering vintage tones with modern muscle. Formed by brothers Lou and Phil Morelli, alongside powerhouse frontman Tom Sullivan, the band had roots that run deep in the Chicago underground, when Chicago club scene, vinyl records, and tube amps shaped their musical DNA.
Having played with a string of cult-followed acts including Blind Ambition, Myth, The Brotherlands, Third Rail, Phineus J, The Pump , The Resin Diggers, and Funk House, the brothers built a foundation on loyal brotherhood, gritty venues, and grooves you feel in your chest.
Years later, the members of Sativa Brothers found their way back. What started as a reunion quickly became something more meaningful: a chance to finally finish the music they had started and to create new music that center around the influences of the past.
Sativa Brothers bring together the raw spirit of the band’s early years with the musical maturity that comes from decades of living, playing, listening, and creating. The songs were started a long time ago, but they sound like they belong right now. Drawing heavy inspiration from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Genesis, and Grand Funk Railroadamong others, Sativa Brothers blend thunderous guitar grooves, Hammond organ, driving rhythms, and soulful vocals into a modern rock revival. Their music is steeped in analog warmth and a rebellious spirit - unpolished, untamed, and unafraid to rip wide open.
Sativa Brothers deliver a timeless, rock experience: part muscle car, part psychedelic sermon, and 100% alive. Paying tribute to the golden era of rock, their sound has a modern attitude that’s both nostalgic and now. Their music is rooted in decades of brotherhood and the enduring belief that rock ’n’ roll still has something to say.
